As a lot of players may not have the greatest knowledge about the game, here are some simple ways to help not lag out the server! (Will be updated)
Farms:
> Harvest in multiple smaller cycles rather than one harvest with a ton of items (lag spikes)
> Get items from drops into the storage quickly, but avoid overusing hoppers
> Don't use a massive amount of minecarts, often you can use just one minecart for a few rows (example pumpkin farm)
> Destroy any item overflowing your storage immediately (cactus, lava, fire)
> Reduce the amount of mobs in your farm (cow, chicken, pig, etc.) and don't cram them into a small space
> Keep your big farms unloaded when a lot of others are playing, there is already a lot of stress on the server
> Get rid of xp orbs as fast as possible (either by absorbing or destroying with lava/cactus)
Redstone:
> Avoid using redstone dust in bigger amounts whenever possible (alternative are powered rails if you know how to use them)
> Have redstone clocks on a slower setting, do not use fast paced clocks like observer clocks
> Use as little hoppers as possible (water streams or hopper minecarts will help with this)
Please reply to this thread with any additions to this list/guide
